New Delhi: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav has said that his critiques are trying to to malign his image. “UP is a big state. Politically, it is a very strong state and critics don’t want to see a young Chief Minister here, they think ‘let’s damage him’,” said Akhilesh.
“I am going to be strong and I will work hard,” he added.
Defending his father’s comment, Akhilesh said that he is in favour of capital punishment for rapists.
“The Samajwadi Party respects women. It is because we govern Uttar Pradesh so whatever we say becomes national news,” he added.
Political expert Amulay Ganguly says the chances are very bleak that the young Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh will be able to improve the present situation before the next assembly elections to be held in 2017.
