BJP women netas fear Modi meeting their husbands, think will be abandoned like his wife: Mayawati

BSP chief Mayawati claimed that women legislators in the Bharatiya Janata Party fear that if PM Modi meets their husbands, they will leave their wives as PM Modi did. The comment came in the backdrop of the political blame game that has erupted over the Alwar gangrape case.

Political mudslinging has reached new heights as voting for the 2019 Lok Sabha elections nears an end. Bahujan Samaj Party supremo Mayawati took a potshot at Prime Minister Narendra Modi once again over the Alwar gangrape case. Mayawati claimed that women legislators in the Bharatiya Janata Party fear that if PM Modi meets their husbands, they will leave their wives as PM Modi did. “In BJP, married women leaders get scared when they see their husbands around PM Modi. They fear that this Modi will separate them from their husbands,” Mayawati claimed in a press conference. The comment came in the backdrop of the political blame game that has erupted over the Alwar gangrape case. BSP chief Mayawati accused the prime minister of playing dirty politics over the case that has brought the Rajasthan government in the dock. Mayawati claimed that PM Modi does not respect women as he has left his own wife. “Narendra Modi was silent on Alwar gangrape case. He’s trying to play dirty politics over it. So that in the elections his party can be benefited. It is extremely shamefully. How can he respect others’ sisters and wives when he has left his own wife for political gains?,” alleged Mayawati. Mayawati accused PM Modi of raking up the issue for Dalit votes. “The PM wanted to attract Dalit votes so he is showing fake love for Dalits in his rallies. Dalits have not forgotten Shabbirpur incident of Saharanpur. Dalits have not forgotten the Rohith Vemula and Una incidents,” she added. BJP candidate from Odisha’s Puri, Sambit Patra reacted to Mayawati’s comment, tweeting, “I was listening to Mayawati ji on TV. The words that she has used for PM Modi are deeply hurtful. What kind of mentality is this? Such hatred for Modi ji? Why? Because he considered the country his family over his real family? Mayawati ji for you your brother is bigger but for Modi ji the country is bigger.”

A full-scale war of words broke out Sunday between Narendra Modi and Mayawati over the Alwar gang rape incident with the prime minister accusing the BSP supremo of “shedding crocodile tears”. Addressing election rallies in Kushinagar and Deoria in eastern Uttar Pradesh, Modi mounted a scathing attack on the BSP supremo and dared her to withdraw support to the Congress government in Rajasthan if she was really serious about the incident. Hours after PM’s statement, Mayawati accused the BJP of doing dirty politics over such a horrific incident. “Modi has refused to take responsibility of the of Dalit atrocities that have taken place during his regime. The Una flogging incident and the Rohit Vemula case are the biggest examples of how Dalits have suffered under the BJP rule. Why is the PM not resigning?” asked the former UP CM. On April 26, a woman was travelling with her husband on a motorcycle when a group of men stopped them and took them to an isolated place off the road. They allegedly beat the husband and gang-raped the woman in front of him, threatening the couple of dire consequences. Her husband claimed that he had approached Rajasthan police on April 30 after the incident, but an FIR was filed on May 7. He had alleged that the police did not take action saying that they were busy with elections.
