Rahul Gandhi denies making personal comment

Amethi: Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi denied any personal comment on the Bharatiya Janata Party’s prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi.
“I was not getting personal against the later but only intended to point out a fact that he had not mentioned wife’s name in affidavit,” he told reporters after filing his nomination papers form Amethi.
Rahul also rubbished opinion polls that predict the decline of Congress.
“Opinion polls have projected the Congress defeat earlier also. Like 2004 and 2009, it will be proved wrong again,” he said.
Before filing the nomination papers, Rahul participated in a roadshow from Gauriganj to the Collectorate in a bid to woo the voters in his home turf.
Notably, Rahul is locked in a triangular contest with Bharatiya Janata Party’s Smriti Irani and Aam Aadmi Party’s Kumar Vishwas in Amethi Lok Sabha constituency this time.
Modi has for the first time declared himself as a married man by revealing his wife’s name as Jashodaben in an affidavit filed before the Election Commission along with his nomination papers for Vadodara Lok Sabha seat.
Modi emerged as the favourite punching bag for Congress leaders on social media on Saturday as they targeted him for finally admitting his marital status.
“He is not living with his wife, he should have taken divorce. If he is married, why is he lying. Poor Jasodaben is living separately for past 35 years. How can a person, who cannot respect woman in his home, respect the nation?” he added.
