Court Rejects Rathore Bail Plea

A Panchkula court in Haryana Friday rejected the anticipatory bail plea filed by former state police chief SPS Rathore, accused in the Ruchka Girhotra molestation case.

Additional district and sessions judge Sanjeev Jindal dismissed the bail plea filed after two fresh FIRs were registered against Rathore on December 29.

Describing the development as a victory for the Girhotra’s and the country, Pankaj Bharadwaj, counsel for the victm’s family said: “The court has dismissed Rathore’s bail plea. He may be arrested anytime now.”

Bharadwaj added that it is now the duty of the state to arrest Rathore, failing which the family will move the High Court.

The court was hearing Rathore’s bail plea against the first two FIRs.

A budding tennis player at 14, Ruchika Girhotra accused the top cop of molestation in 1990. She committed suicide three years later.
