Monsoon Updates : Amit Shah assures central assistance to Assam CM for flood situation

The flood condition in Assam remained grim on Sunday, with over four lakh people hit by the deluge across nine districts, even though water levels started to recede, an official said.

So far, three persons have lost their lives in this year’s first wave of flood in different parts of the state, the Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA) official said. According to an ASDMA report, over 4,07,700 people are impacted by the deluge in Baksa, Barpeta, Darrang, Dhubri, Goalpara, Kamrup, Lakhimpur, Nalbari and Udalguri districts.

Monsoon hits east Madhya Pradesh, likely to cover entire state by June 29: IMD

The southwest monsoon has entered eastern parts of Madhya Pradesh, bringing showers in the last 24 hours, an official of the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said on Sunday. The rain-bearing system is expected to cover entire Madhya Pradesh by June 28 .

Many parts of Haryana and Punjab received rains, leading to a drop in the minimum temperature, the weather department said on Sunday. In the past 24-hours ending at 8:30 am Sunday, Ambala, Karnal, Narnaul, Rohtak, Bhiwani, Gurugram, Kurukshetra and Mohali received rains, according to a report of the MeT office.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah took to Twitter, stating that he has personally spoken to CM Himanta Biswa Sarma and assured all possible assistance. NDRF teams are already present on-site, actively engaged in relief and rescue operations, while additional forces remain prepared for immediate deployment. The Modi government reaffirms its unwavering support for the people of Assam during these challenging times.

The flood situation in Nalbari, Assam continues to worsen as the water level rises due to continuous rainfall. Approximately 4.89 lakh individuals across 19 districts have been affected by the floods.
