Derby Crown Court finds former England U-19 captain Shiv Thakor guilty of exposing himself to two women

London: Former England U-19 captain Shiv Thakor has been found guilty of exposing himself in front of two women by a Derby Crown Court. Thakor has been granted unconditional bail and will be sentenced on November 24.

Thakor exposed himself in front of the two women on two different occasions on June 12 and 19. He was arrested for both the offences in July. One of the victim’s even labelled Thakor as ‘Shifty Shiv’ after the incident.

Thakor however, has denied both counts of exposure stating that he had been already “sexually satisfied” by his 16-year-old girlfriend so he could not have committed the offences.

“I bent down to get some paper from the printer. I just put my head down and carried on with my work,” one of the witnesses said.

The woman told the court she believed Thakor was aware he was exposing himself. “He knew exactly what he was doing,” she said.

Prosecutor Emma Price told the court that Thakor was jogging outside a housing estate and arrived at the property in jogging bottoms with two buttons undone, according to media reports. Price claimed that these incidents caused “alarm or distress” to the two women.

In his defence, the 24-year-old said, “I have got a tendency, that is almost a running joke, that I tend to rearrange myself both at the front and back during games.”

But the district judge was having none of it and said, “I’m in absolutely no doubt that both women have given honest evidence to this court. I am satisfied beyond reasonable doubt that you have committed both of these offences.”

Derbyshire have already suspended Thakor on full pay and the cricketer has not featured in any matches for the county since June.
