Shikhar Dhawan smashes century as Delhi beat Chennai by five wickets

The chase of 180 could well have proved extremely difficult, if not for some sublime gameplay from the duo

Delhi Capitals (DC) defeated Chennai Super Kings (CSK) by five wickets in the 34th match of Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020 at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium on Saturday. Opener Shikhar Dhawan was the hero of the night completing his maiden century in the IPL off 57 deliveries, remaining unbeaten till the end to see his side across the line.
However, Dhawan got some extremely valuable support from all-rounder Axar Patel who smashed 21 runs off five deliveries, including three sixes in the final over against Ravindra Jadeja. The chase of 180 could well have proved extremely difficult, if not for some sublime gameplay from the duo.
Earlier, the Chennai-based franchise posted a total of 179 runs for the loss of four wickets in 20 overs, with Proteas batsman Faf du Plessis finishing as the highest run-scorer. Du Plessis smashed 58 runs off 47 deliveries in an innings comprising six boundaries and two sixes. Anrich Nortje was the pick of the bowlers, accounting for two wickets.
