Electioneering material being removed continuously in cities and towns

Bhopal: Electioneering material used by political parties and candidates is being removed continuously to ensure free and fair Lok Sabha elections in the state. Even 14 days after announcement for Lok Sabha elections, process has been started to remove posters, banners, wall writings etc. in cities and towns of the state. Under Prevention of Defacement of Public Property Act, 67 thousand 137 wall writings, posters, banners etc have been removed from public and private properties. As many as 58 thousand 437 posters, banners and wall paintings have been removed from public properties and 8700 publicity material from private properties.

So far, 14 thousand 559 wall writings, 21 thousand 464 posters, 13 thousand 274 banners and 9 thousand 140 other materials have been removed from public properties. During the action, 42 cases have also been registered. Similarly, 3325 wall writings, 2474 posters, 2185 banners and 2039 other materials have been removed 8700 from public properties after registering 4cases.

Three cases including an FIR have been registered for violation of Prevention of Defacement of Properties Act, 2 FIRs for misuse of loudspeaker, and 5 cases including 4 FIRs. As many as 2 FIRs have been registered against 14 persons for effort to bribe voters and 54 cases including 4 FIRs have been registered in other cases. In this say 66 cases including 29 FIRs have been registered so far.

Model code of conduct is being strictly enforced in Lok Sabha to ensure free and fair Lok Sabha election. At Barwani, Patel Rock Drill, Khandwa complained that PHE’s executive engineer invited tenders even after announcement of elections which is being investigated by the collector. Inspector of University Police Station in Gwalior Shri Saxena registered an FIR against Shri Bhupendra Singh and Shri Pankaj Sharma for violating government order. A case has been registered at Barghat police station against former Congress candidate for Barghat Vidhan Sabha constituency Shri Arjun Kakodiya on the complaint of violation of mode code of conduct lodged by Shri Narendra Singh Thakur of BJP in Seoni district.
