David Warner Scripts SunRisers Hyderabad’s Win Over Rajasthan Royals

Sanju Samson's century went in vain as Rajasthan suffered a second successive defeat

David Warner scored an impressive knock of 69 runs, claiming the Orange Cap with successive fifties, as SunRisers Hyderabad defeated Rajasthan Royals by 5 wickets at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium on Friday. With this, the visitors registered their first win in the IPL 2019, while Rajasthan Royals suffered a second successive defeat as they lost their first match to Kings XI Punjab by 14 runs. Rashid Khan scored the winning six as SunRisers Hyderabad chased down the tough 199-run target with an over to spare. Earlier, Sanju Samson top-scored for Rajasthan Royals with an unbeaten knock of 102, while captain Ajinkya Rahane chipped in with a crucial 70 as the visitors scored 198/2 in their allotted 20 overs at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium. Samson, who became the first batsman to score a century in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2019, remained unbeaten on a 55-ball 102, including 10 boundaries and four sixes. It was Samson’s second IPL hundred as he scored his first century in 2017. After opting to bat, Rahane led from the front with a 49-ball 70 and stitched a century stand with Samson for the second-wicket. The pair set the base for a confident total after the early dismissal of Jos Buttler (5). Ben Stokes played some stylish shots and scored three boundaries to contribute with 16 runs.
