Roka-Chheka launched, CM announces aid for Gauthans

Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel on Thursday launched the Roka-Chheka campaign aimed at saving crops from stray cattle and announced a financial aid of Rs 24.41 crores for Gauthans.

Speaking on the occasion, Baghel said Chhattisgarh is on the path of realizing the vision of Mahatma Gandhi to make villages self-dependent and self-supporting.

The Roka-Chheka campaign was launched virtually.

Baghel said that under the campaign, meetings should be held in villages and shepherds should be entrusted with the responsibility to gather cattle in gauthans.

The Chief Minister has sanctioned a total of Rs 23.28 crores as aid for the maintenance of 5,820 active Gauthans and Rs 1.13 crores to 1,135 self-supporting Gauthans,

Self-help groups are producing vermi-compost and super compost from cow dung. They are earning a steady income from production of vermicompost, super compost and other economic activities.

On the request of Sarpanch of model Gram Panchayat Risama, Baghel sanctioned Rs 1,61,93,705 for setting up solar power plants and street lights at the main road of Risama among others.

The Chief Minister said the Roka-Chheka campaign is very important for Chhattisgarh to save the crops from grazing animals.

From today, instead of leaving their cattle in the open, cattle owners should send them to the Gauthans where arrangements for fodder and water have been made.
