Violence hits Karachi, 24 people kiled

Karachi: At least 24 people have been killed in various incidents of target killings in Pakistan’s biggest city in the last 24 hours.

DIG East zone, Shahid Hayat said that at least six people including students of the Madrasa had been killed in the incident while three others were injured.

“Condition of two of the injured is critical,” he said.

In another incident of target killing near the Saifee college in North Nazimabad, armed men on motorcycles killed three persons travelling in a car one of them is said to be the editor of a weekly magazine.

Three members of the Shia Hazara community were shot dead in the provincial capital of the troubled Baluchistan on Saturday.

The killings come at a time when an International Defence Exhibition is being held at the Expo centre in the city and Chief Minister of Bihar Nitish Kumar is also visiting with a high level delegation.

In most of the incidents on Saturday, the killings were carried out by gunmen on motorcycles although the Sindh provincial government on Friday night imposed a ban on pillion riding because of the coming Muharram.

Target killings continued in other parts of the city with two people shot dead in the Liaquabad area including the son of a senior Intelligence Bureau officer, Qamar Raza who himself was shot dead outside his house few months back

Three persons were also shot dead in Korangi while one person in a car was killed near Sakhi Hasan and two others were shot dead in Mujahid Colony in Nazimabad.

On Friday night four people were killed in the Pak colony are.

In the first 10 days of this month around 100 people have been killed in the city.
