Cong mocks at BJP for flaying C’garh govt

Chhattisgarh’s ruling Congress on Tuesday hit out at the BJP for its constant criticism of the Bhupesh Baghel-led government, saying 15 years of BJP rule in the state was incomparable with what the Congress had achieved since taking power.

When the BJP ruled Chhattisgarh, the Congress had opposed the appointment of Parliamentary Secretaries and even approached the High Court. The petition was dismissed.

Then why is the BJP pained if the Congress government is now appointing Parliamentary Secretaries, Forest Minister and government spokesperson Mohammed Akbar said on Tuesday.

He was addressing a press conference at the Congress headquarters along with Agriculture Minister and the other government spokesperson, Ravindra Choubey.

Both the Ministers were replying to a series of tweets of former Chief Minister Raman Singh tagging the tweets of promises made by Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel as state Congress President.

“Raman Singh is seeking a ‘Blueprint’ but we have a ‘Black Print’ of corruption, nepotism, scams of 15 years of BJP government. It is incomparable with 15 months of Congress rule in the state,” said the spokesperson.

“People have given the mandate for five years. Out of 36 promises made to the people, 22 have been fulfilled. More years are left for the government.”

Listing out the failures and scams during the BJP rule, the Ministers said: “Promise of paddy bonus to farmers, paddy procurement quantity, unemployment allowance, job to one member of tribal families… In all 15 most prominent unfulfilled promises after 15 years of rule have reduced BJP to less than 15 members in the state assembly.

“There is no logic in raising such issues by BJP leaders as they should look back at their government’s performance and its failures before pointing fingers at the Congress government,” said Choubey.

Choubey added: “Raman Singh’s last phase of politics before ‘vaanprastha’ (one who gives up worldly life). So, he has been given a ceremonial post. Let the Congress government work instead of mocking its decisions.”

Akbar said the BJP government brought up three elephant related projects but sat on them due to the issue of coal blocks.

Putting the people-animal conflict on priority, the Congress government has urged the Central government not to auction the coal blocks. Soon a notification will be issued with more areas to be brought under the wildlife project.
