Infertility a matter of grave concern: Governor

Bhopal: Inaugurating the first National Infertility Conference here today, Governor Shri Ram Naresh Yadav said that infertility is a serious disease and ancient problem. This destroys not only a woman but entire family. This subject needs to discussed and pondered minutely. The conference was organised by Madhya Pradesh Indian Society of Assistant Reproduction. The Governor inaugurated the conference by lighting a lamp. National President Dr. H.D. Pai and Secretary Dr. Nandita Pai of ISAR were present on the occasion.

Governor Shri Yadav said that in olden times, a woman was held solely responsible for infertility. However, intensity of this allegation has reduced to a great extent due to continued researches and science and medical education and dissemination of awareness. Being childless is a personal problem, but it wrecks the person mentally and socially.

Governor Shri Yadav urged doctors and experts to ponder over ways to prevent foeticide apart from solving problem of infertility. Foeticide is a blot on the face of society. Gender ratio is decreasing in the state due to increased incidents of foeticide, he added.

National President Dr. H.D. Pai said that there are misgivings about childless people in society, which can be removed through new technology. He said that regular check-up by doctors and cautious food habits can prevent this problem. Dr. Pai said that obesity and diabetes also lead to fertility. This problem can be overcome through timely treatment.

On the occasion, the Governor felicitated Dr. H.D. Pai with shawl, coconut and memento. Institution’s State President Dr. Asha Bakshi and Secretary Dr. Archana Baser also spoke on the occasion. Organising Secretary Dr. Randhir Singh proposed a vote of thanks. Doctors, experts and large number of distinguished citizens were present on the occasion.
