Man U seeks Indian Sahara
Manchester United, arguably the most prolific soccer team in the world, may soon sport a n Indian brand on their famous red shirts, according to Sahara India chief Subrata Roy, his company is in talks with club officials for a Rs. 1 billion jersey sponsorship deal with the European and English champions.
“We are in talks with Manchester United. It is still at the preliminary stage and I would not like to comment anything about that,” Roy told reporters here.
Manchester United is looking for a replacement for its current sponsor American Insurance Group (AIG) that has been hit by recession. The English club signed a record 56.5 million pound four-year contract with the American giant in 2006.
Besides Sahara India, Religare is the other Indian company that is also in talks with the English club.
