IOC’s decision to drop wrestling a major blow to India’s hope

Lausanne: Droppin Wrestling for 2020 games is a serious blow to the India’s hopes in Olympics. Wrestling has been the game at which Indian Olympic contingent has made remarkable performances.

India has so far bagged four Olympic medals in wrestling since 1952. In 2012 London Olympics, Indian wrestlers Sushil Kumar and Yogeshwar Dutt bagged Silver and Bronze medals respectively. Even in 2008, Sushil Kumar won bronze medal in Beijing Olympics. In 1952 Helsinki Olympics games, KD Yadav had won bronze for India in wrestling.
The decision to drop wrestling has come as a shock because the preparation for next Olympics games had already started.
