Barack Obama to visiti Saudi Arabia in March
Washington: US President Barack Obama will visit Saudi Arabia in March and meet with King Abdullah in a bid to reassure the key ally about the administration’s policies in the Middle East.
This is part of “regular consultations” between the two countries, White House Press Secretary Jay Carney said.
Obama will travel to Saudi Arabia following his travel to the Netherlands, Belgium and Italy.
The president’s trip comes after Secretary of State John Kerry visited Saudi officials in January.
Saudi officials are concerned about US-led efforts to broker a nuclear deal with Iran and America’s reluctance to engage more directly in Syria’s civil war.
