Datia colder than Shimla, minimum mercury reached 2.8°: Night temperature below 10° in entire MP except Narmadapuram, Seoni, Malajkhand.

Madhya Pradesh is shivering due to the icy winds coming from the north. Cold wave has been going on since Monday morning. Sunlight is ineffective. Datia remains the coldest in the state. The minimum mercury reached 2.8 degrees here on Sunday night. The temperature on Sunday was also the lowest recorded at 17.7 degrees. The minimum temperature in Shimla was 3.2 degrees.

Except Narmadapuram, Seoni and Malajkhand, the mercury did not reach above 10 degrees on Monday night in any city in the state. Narmadapuram recorded the highest minimum temperature of 10.5 degrees. Due to severe cold, the timing of schools in the state will remain at 10 am till January 31.

Senior meteorologist Dr. Vedprakash Singh said that there is an effect of northern winds in the state. Due to this, cold-wave and cold-day conditions will persist. There will be fog also.

The temperature here remained below 5° on Monday night.

Bhopal, Indore, Gwalior, Jabalpur and Ujjain also shivered due to cold on Sunday. There was a drop in the day temperature in Bhopal. The maximum temperature here was 21.4 degrees. Indore recorded 21.8 degrees, Gwalior 20.6 degrees, Jabalpur 20.7 degrees and Ujjain 23.2 degrees Celsius.

Due to severe cold, the maximum temperature remained below 20 degrees in five cities. Apart from Rewa and Raisen, the maximum temperature was recorded at 19 degrees in Tikamgarh, 19.2 degrees in Khajuraho and 19.5 degrees in Naugaon. Whereas, in Pachmarhi, Malajkhand, Dhar, Satna, Damoh, Sagar, Umaria, Narsinghpur, Shajapur, Guna, Betul, Shivpuri, Ratlam, Narmadapuram and Khandwa, the maximum temperature was less than 25 degrees. The highest temperature was recorded in Mandla at 25.8 degrees.
