Rishabh Pant shares update on his road to recovery: To sit out and breathe fresh air feels blessed

India wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant on Tuesday shared an update on his recovery on Instagram in which he expressed gratitude for being able to breathe fresh air. Pant was seen sitting outside, enjoying the fresh air, and writing a moving caption that showed he was reflecting on life from a different perspective following the horrific car accident.

Pant posted an Instagram story with the caption “Never knew just able to sit out and breathe fresh air feels so blessed”.

Last month, Pant confirmed that his surgery was a success, and he is looking forward to the recovery process and the challenges that lie ahead. Pant was involved in a horrific car accident on the Delhi-Dehradun highway on December 30th. The vehicle of India’s wicketkeeper collided with a divider and caught fire.

Pant will miss the Border-Gavaskar Trophy and Indian Premier League due to injuries sustained in a car accident last month. The India wicketkeeper suffered cuts on his forehead, a ligament tear in his right knee, as well as injuries to his right wrist, ankle, toe, and back. His scan results revealed that his brain and spinal cord were unaffected. Pant was flown from Dehradun to Mumbai for surgery and follow-up procedures for ligament tears.

Former Australia captain Ian Chappell said that Rishabh Pant’s presence would have given Australia captain Pat Cummins sleepless nights, but even so, India will start as firm favourites in the upcoming four-match Test series, which begins on Thursday in Nagpur. Pant was involved in a horrific car accident in December of last year and is still in the hospital after undergoing multiple surgeries on his knee and heel.

“India are really going to really miss Rishabh Pant. The Australians will be happy. He is a counterattacker, the guy who keep you awake are guys who score quickly and changes game in one session. Pant was one such player,” Chappell said during an interaction organised by Star Sports, the official broadcasters of the Test series for the Border Gavaskar Trophy.
