Dhadak box office collection Day 3: Janhvi Kapoor’s film is on fire
shashank Khaitan’s Dhadak, which is the remake of the Marathi blockbuster Sairat, continues to sail at the box office.
The film began its theatrical run with Rs 8.71 crore, and overtook the first-day collection of Student Of The Year to become the highest opening Bollywood film featuring newcomers.
Dhadak saw a significant climb on its second day, and raked in Rs 11.04 crore. On its third day, the film has made Rs 13.92 crore, which brings its total collection to around Rs 33.67 crore.
The original film Sairat, was a massive success at the box office. The film was such a craze that theatres had to introduce additional shows at midnight and 3am to cope with the demand.
Directed by Shashank Khaitan, Dhadak is the story of two star-crossed lovers, Parthavi Singh (Janhvi Kapoor) and Madhukar Bagla (Ishaan Khatter), who belong to different castes. All hell breaks loose when Parthavi’s family discovers their liaison, and the couple is forced to elope. But theirs is no fairytale romance, as the audience soon discovers.
There was a strong buzz surrounding the film, as it marked the debut of Sridevi and Boney Kapoor’s elder daughter Janhvi Kapoor. Fans were also excited to see if Dhadak could recreate the magic of Sairat.
