Avengers Infinity War box office collection day 3: Marvel crossover treat smashes its way to Rs 94.30 crore

Marvel’s Avengers: Infinity War, the biggest superhero film to hit theatres, has created history at the Indian box office. With an opening weekend collection of a staggering Rs 94.30 crore, the Hollywood flick has set the cash registers ringing like never before. Avengers: Infinity War earned Rs 31.30 crore on Day 1 and subsequently earned Rs 30.50 crore and Rs 32.5 crore on day 2 and 3.

If Avengers: Infinity War continues in the same fashion, it will be the fastest Hollywood film to cross the Rs 100 crore mark.

In its US and worldwide market too, Avengers: Infinity War is wreaking havoc. It became the biggest US domestic opener and worldwide opener with earnings of 250 million dollars and 630 million dollars, respectively.

Avengers: Infinity War also marks the first full-fledged appearance of the mighty villain Thanos after his appearance in 2012’s The Avengers for the first time. The Marvel Cinematic Universe that began with 2008’s Iron Man has been a buildup of sorts for this mega-crossover film. All the major characters formed in the MCU made an appearance in the film in some way or the other, except Hawkeye and Ant-man.

In his review, Indian Express film critic Kshitij Rawat wrote, “Avengers: Infinity War is full of entertaining little parts that somehow do not make a compelling whole. It is a phantasmagoria of stunning action sequences and beautifully poignant moments that nevertheless leaves one cold in the end. A veritable horde of characters are fiddled around pretty ably and almost everybody gets their due. To sum up, Infinity War is not the best Marvel film but then telling a largely logical story with 67 characters is in itself an achievement.”

Russo brothers, who helmed Avengers: Infinity War, have even announced that the fourth iteration of the series will release in May 2019.
