Chief Minister  Shivraj Singh Chouhan has said that farmers are not only our Annadata (provider of food) but also give us life. If they do not toil in the fields, we will not survive even for two-four days. It is the hard work, sacrifice and diligence of the farmers that has made Madhya Pradesh the number one in the country in the agriculture sector. Our Sharbati wheat and Chinnor rice are getting international recognition. Food grain production in the state in 2002-03 was 159 lakh metric tonnes, which has now increased to 619 lakh metric tonnes.

The government has made arrangements for loans at 0% interest as well as adequate electricity and irrigation for farmers. It is our resolve to provide water for irrigation to every farmer. Ken-Betwa Link Project has been approved, this will further increase the area under irrigation in the state. Chief Minister Chouhan said that our government will leave no stone unturned in the welfare of farmers. If there is any damage due to rain then farmers should not worry, they will be provided assistance after conducting a survey.

Chief Minister  Chouhan said that he will soon meet regarding new gifts to the farmers. It is our religion to worry about the happiness and sorrow of the farmer. I am going to meet the farmers again soon, I have to release two thousand rupees each from the Mukhyamantri Kisan Nidhi in their accounts, I have to release the insurance amount, along with this I have to give other gifts to the farmers. There has been sufficient rainfall in the state, sufficient fertilizer is available, power supply is also being provided as per requirement. So there is nothing to worry about. The Annadata will remain happy and the government will continue to serve the farmers.

Chief Minister  Chouhan said that there was a time when electricity was available only for three to four hours. There was a time when crops used to dry up in the fields. The total production of electricity in the state was only 2900 megawatt. Today more than 29 thousand megawatt electricity is being produced in the state. Irrigation capacity has increased from 7 lakh hectares to 47 lakh hectares, our target is to irrigate an area of more than 65 lakh hectares. We will provide water to every field as per our resolution.

Chief Minister Chouhan said that a few days ago there was a situation of concern due to lack of rain, due to lack of water there were cracks in the fields, the demand for electricity was increasing unexpectedly. It seemed as if we were moving towards famine. In this situation, I prayed to Baba Mahakal, you all also participated in this prayer. By the grace of God, our ponds, dams etc. have all been filled, now there is no worry. It is true that “if a righteous person runs the government, then God is also pleased.”
