SBI instant money transfer (IMT): Here’s how to withdraw cash without using debit card

New Delhi: State Bank of India (SBI), the country’s biggest lender offers instant money transfer (IMT) service. It allows the customers to instantly transfer rupee funds to anybody (family, friends, even for self withdrawal) anywhere anytime. This service is usually essential for the people who require remittances such as parents sending money to children or in case of a forgotten wallet, lost debit card, etc. In order to transfer the money, the beneficiary’s mobile number, name and address must be known to the sender.

It may be noted that the registration of the beneficiary by the sender is carried out by the system. The sender doesn’t require to provide the name and address for the recurring payments. Another important feature of this service is that the beneficiary can withdraw cash from select State Bank Group (SBI) ATMs to begin without needing debit card.

According to the SBI’s official website- sbi.co.in, an instant money transfer once created cannot be canceled. Currently, partial withdrawal is not allowed, therefore, the beneficiary has to withdraw full amount in a single transaction.

How to do beneficiary registrations and de-registration-

All those customers creating IMTs using ATMs will be required to provide the name and address of the beneficiary through SMS which must be sent to 567676. The format should be- BREG 912345678+GUPTA+DELHI+110051 (beneficiary’s mobile no., beneficiary’s name, location and PIN number). In the case of de-registration, the format should be- UNREG 912345678, i.e only the mobile number registration.

Transaction limit-

There is a minimum transaction limit of Rs 100 and multiples of Rs 100 thereafter whereas, a maximum ceiling is of Rs 10,000 per transaction which is subject to the monthly cap of Rs 25,000 in a month per beneficiary. This will be applied automatically by the system. The maximum amount per sender in a calendar month is Rs 50,000 and there is a maximum number of 10 beneficiaries per sender. It is important to note that the sender will be charged a nominal fee of Rs 25 per transaction at the source.
How to withdraw cash using IMT-

The beneficiary can use any State Bank Group ATM to make a cardless withdrawal of the amount. Currently, this service is present on a limited number of ATMs. However, all ATMs will get covered shortly. The step-by-step process for withdrawal of an IMT is as given below:

1. Visit a State Bank of India ATM
