India Has Right to Respond to Ceasefire Violation: Omar
Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, with regard to recent ceasefire violation by Pakistani troops, has said that India has the right to respond to them.
“It is our right to respond in case of ceasefire violations,” he said while addressing an army function at Agoura.
At the same time, he hoped that Pakistan would keep its promise to continue ceasefire along the LoC as it has proved helpful to people on both sides.
The chief minister said that the defence forces would leave only after the situation in the state improves.
“Stay of the army depends on the ground situation and as the situation improves the army will definitely go back to barracks in Jammu and Kashmir,” he said.
Without naming out political party or any other outfit, he said that some self-seeking people were adamant upon creating an atmosphere of mistrust again Army and advocating revocation of Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA) and recalling army back to barracks.
The opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and separatists are demanding revocation of the AFSPA and Disturbed Areas Act (DAA) in Jammu and Kashmir and subsequent troops withdrawal from the state.
