Curfew Continues in Batala
Curfew remained in force in the Batala town of Punjab on Sunday, a day after the publication of Jesus in an objectionable manner sparked violent clashes between two communities, reported PTI.
Citing IG (border range) Preet Singh Sahota, the report said curfew entered its second consecutive day and termed the situation as under control, but tense.
A dozen people, including a journalist of a Punjabi daily, were detained for violating the curfew, it added.
The Punjabnewsline website, however, reported that curfew was lifted in the area on Sunday.
On Saturday, a protest march called to agitate against the objectionable depiction of Jesus, turned violent leading to arson and clashes in various parts of Batala.
