Develop Bhopal Memorial Hospital as PG institute: CM

Bhopal: Chief Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan has said Bhopal Memorial Hospital and Research Centre should be developed as a PG institute and its management improved. Central government should cooperate in construction of new building of Hamidia Hospital. Chief Minister Shri Chouhan stated this during a meeting with Union Health Minister Dr. Harshvardhan here today. Dr. Harshvardhan said that the Central government will extend every possible cooperation in this. A proposal in this regard should be sent. During discussions, Union Health Minister Dr. Harshvardhan gave his consent to sanction of Rs. 150 crore for Regional Institute of Paramedical Sciences in AIIMS Bhopal. Health Minister Dr. Narottam Mishra and Minister of State of Health Shri Sharad Jain were also present on the occasion. The Chief Minister said that number of seats in medical colleges in Madhya Pradesh should be increased. Funds sanctioned for Vidisha, Shahdol and Sagar medical colleges should be released soon. Amendment should be made in the Central government’s condition that only district hospital should be affiliated to medical college. He said that a hospital can be constructed along with medical college. The Central government should extend cooperation in setting up cardiac centres in 4 major cities of the state including Bhopal, Indore, Gwalior and Jabalpur. Top priority is being attached to health in the state. Union Minister Dr. Harshvardhan said that Central Government’s priority is to provide better health services to every citizen. Madhya Pradesh should present a model before the country in this regard. Attention should be paid to preventive care by linking health with education. He said that no discrimination will be made against any state in health facilities. No compromise should be made with quality in medical education. Health should be conducted on a mass scale. Chief Secretary Shri Anthony de Sa, Principal Secretary Health Shri Praveer Krishna, Principal Secretary Medical Education Shri Ajay Tirky, Director NHM Shri Faiz Ahmad Kidwai, Health Commissioner Shri Pankaj Agrawal, Secretary to CM Shri Vivek Agrawal and senior officers of Health Department were present on the occasion.
