Basu’s Health Condition Deteriorating: Reports

Health condition of former West Bengal chief minister and veteran CPM leader Jyoti Basu, who is in a Kolkata hospital after a pneumonia attack, is deteriorating, said reports.

NDTV reported citing the latest medical bulletin that there was fluid retention in Basu’s body and that his multiple organs had been affected, with impact being even on his urine output.

As a precautionary measure, Basu was kept on ventilator support after he developed some breathing problems.

He was fed through riles tube on Friday night. A bronchoscopy confirmed presence of highly drug-resistant bacteria in his body.

Basu was admitted to the AMRI Hospital with pneumonia on January 1.
