Alia Bhatt: I realised that Meghna Gulzar and I were the same person

Alia Bhatt is all set to deliver yet another astounding performance with her next, directed by Meghna Gulzar. The Junglee Pictures and Dharma productions’ film also stars Vicky Kaushal in the lead role opposite Alia.
While for Meghna Alia was in her mind even before she put text on paper, for Alia working with Meghna has been like working with self. Speaking about the same, Alia said, “I have realised this throughout the film and now even after the film too that Meghna and I were the same person. We used to think alike and act the same way. It just became an internal joke between the two of us. We just stopped communicating. It was like a silent film going on. We used to just look at each other, smile and we knew what we had to do next. Initially, I thought it is just me who thinks like that but then eventually one day Meghna’s husband messaged me saying you both are very similar and that is a bit scary. The fact that Meghna is such a talented director and a beautiful person gives me the confidence that I am the same person.”

‘Raazi’ will also see actor Vicky Kaushal pairing up with Alia for the first time. Speaking about hving a co-star like Alia, Vicky averred, “She was really giving as an actor. She has the ability to lift any co-actor’s performance and that is the organic vibe she comes in with. That is really beautiful as a co-actor when you know that your performance is getting enhanced because of that. She is a fantastic human being too.”
Imagining Alia as ‘Sehmat’ of ‘Raazi’ came very naturally to Meghna. “I knew she physically fit the Sehmat that I was seeing, the rest of the work she did. She worked on her physicality, her body language and her language. There was lot of hard work that went on before we even landed on the sets. And once we were on the sets the only thing that was to happen was that to bring your craft. And that is exactly what all the actors did. I was very fortunate because of that,” Meghna concluded.

Directed by Meghna Gulzar, the film is produced by Vineet Jain, Karan Johar, Hiroo Johar and Apoorva Mehta and co-produced by Priti Shahani. ‘Raazi’ is slated to release on May 11, 2018.
