India Concerned about Terror Camps in Pak but Will Continue Talks: Antony

Defence Minister AK Antony has said that India is concerned about thriving terror camps in Pakistan but the bilateral talks would continue, said media reports.

“Still, more than 40 terror camps are working across the border still intact. It is a matter of concern to us. On that, Pakistan should take action to dismantle the terrorist outfits.

“That apart, dialogue will continue,” Antony was quoted as saying while talking to reporters on the sidelines of Defence Accounts Controllers conference in New Delhi.

“Talks will continue. But at the same time, we are concerned about existence of more than 40 terror camps. Pakistan must take sincere and strong action to dismantle terrorist outfits,” he was quoted as saying.

Responding to a question about the appeal by the Defence Ministry against a Delhi High Court order to accord permanent commission to women officers in the Army, Navy and Air Force, Antony said that he would not ‘ignore the views’ of the armed forces on the matter, reports said.

The minister said that the government decided after 60 years of independence in 2008 to accord permanent commission to women officers in seven streams of service in the armed forces for the first time, said reports.

“We have taken another policy decision to include more streams (to provide permanent commission to women officers). Before that there was no policy on this. Also, I cannot ignore the view of the armed forces,” he was quoted as saying.

About UPA completing one year of its second consecutive term, he said that the day the government completes one year, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh would meet the media and talk about it, reports said.
