A Top Minster’s Aide Threatened Me: Sanjay

Amid curdling ties between the Congress and the Samajwadi Party (SP), Bollywood star Sanay Dutt on Wednesday reiterated that he was threatened by a key aide of a Cabinet Minster, who warned him of “dire consequences” against joining the SP. The Congress, however, waved off the allegations as “baseless.”

“Yes I can confirm that I was threatened by a senior aide of a Cabinet Minister and warned of dire consequences,” he told a TV news channel in a joint interview with SP general secretary Amar Singh.

Dutt, who was barred by Supreme Court from contesting the LS polls on Tuesday, however, stopped short of the point of no return and refuse to name the person who allegedly issued the threats.

“I will reveal everything at the appropriate time. No one can stop me from being with Samajwadi Party,” said Sanjay whose entry into the Mulayam Singh led party had elicited extreme responses, especially his family has had close ties with the Congress and the Nehru-Gandhi clan.

Dismissing Dutt’s allegations, the Congress said that the “self serving claims” were “baseless” as they came without any evidence.
