Moral education in schools from next year: CM

Bhopal: Chief Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan has said that moral education will be taught as a subject in schools of Madhya Pradesh from next year. The Chief Minister was addressing a state-level teachers felicitation function on Teacher’s Day here today. He gave away state-level awards to 14 teachers.

Shri Chouhan said that arrangements will be made to seek suggestions from academics for improvement in quality of education. Discussions will be held with the Centre to re-introduce Board exams of class V and VIII. He said that objective of education is to inculcate knowledge, skill and civic sense manners among students. A teacher grooms fine human beings. In changing times, teachers’ honour should be enhanced and the teachers should also pay more attention to discharging their duties in right earnest. Teaching is a mission which shapes future of state and country.

Former Chief Minister Shri Kailash Joshi said that education should be in accordance with present-day requirements of the country. Our country boasts of guru-shishya tradition. School Education Minister Shri Paras Jain said that teachers have ensured success of School Chalen Ham Abhiyan. Abrogation of section 30 of Right to Education Act should be considered. Panchayats & Rural Development Minister and in-charge of Bhopal district Shri Gopal Bhargava said that teacher imparts knowledge to young generation. Knowledge is priceless. Attention should be paid to protection of culture. Tribal Welfare Minister Shri Gyan Singh said that teacher teaches to follow path of righteousness. The state government is making constant efforts to improve quality of education. Minister of State for School Higher Education Shri Deepak Joshi said that 39 thousand vacancies of teachers in the state will be filled up. Education paves way for moving ahead in life, he added. At the function, awardee teachers were given away Rs. 25 thousand each, shawl, coconut and citation. Teachers conferred President’s Medals last year were also felicitated on the occasion. One teacher each standing first in state-level symposium was also honoured.

The teachers felicitated at the function included Shri Dinesh Kumar Rao Chhindwara, Shri Shaikh Naeem Qureshi Sehore, Shri Rajendra Pal Singh Dang Dhar, Dr. Archana Gautam Satna, Smt. Pratibha Sahu Sohagpur, Shri Pushpendra Pandey Anuppur, Smt. Deepti Agnihotri Bhopal, Shri Raghuvir Rai Chhindwara, Shri Pramod Sharma Datia, Shri Rajesh Gandhara Ujjain, Shri Mulidhar Khode Khargone and Shri Devi Charan Chakravarty Dewas. The President’s Medal winners felicitated on the occasion included Shri Dhirendra Singh Tomar Bhopal, Shri Rajendra Prasad Bhardwaj Rajgarh, Shri Gokul Prasad Suryavanshi Sagar, Shri Balkrishna Pachouri Shivpuri, Shri Irfan Pathan Dhar, Shri Rohini Prasad Shukla Mandla, Smt. Gita Sonwani Umaria, Shri B.L. Rohit Damoh, Shri Tilak Ram Tripathi Sagar, Shri Gopal Verma Ratlam, Shri Mukam Singh Bhavar Dhar and Shri Lalji Tiwari Shahdol. The teachers standing first in state level symposium included Smt. Kalpana Parihar Badnawar and Shri Pramod Gaur Khandwa were also felicitated. Chairman of Board of Secondary Education Shri Devraj Birdi, Principal Secretary Tribal Welfare Shri B.R. Naidu, Commissioner Tribal Welfare Shri Umakant Umrao, Commissioner Rajya Shiksha Kendra Smt. Rashmi Arun Shami, Commissioner Public Instructions Shri S.K. Pal and students were present on the occasion.
