Team India gets new kit, to wear orange-dominated jersey for away matches in 2019 World Cup

The hype and hullabaloo around the upcoming ICC World Cup 2019 have risen immensely in the last few days. With only seven days to go for the marquee event to commence, in England and Wales from May 30, the ICC has planned to introduce the concept of home and away jerseys, which is already prevalent in football. With this, Team India is set to don a different jersey for their away matches, which will be when they lock horns with Afghanistan (June 22) and hosts England (on June 30) respectively.

As many as four teams — in the form of England, India, Sri Lanka, and Afghanistan — have blue as their preferred colour. However, with England being the hosts, the other teams will have to change their colours when they take on Eoin Morgan-led England in the showpiece event. India’s yet-to-be-released jersey will most likely see the players wear a darker blue in the front, whereas orange will dominate the sleeves as well as the back.

Apart from their matches against England and Afghanistan, Virat Kohli-led India will continue to don their traditional blue jersey in all the remaining games, including the one versus Sri Lanka. They have been listed as the home side for the face-off versus the Lankans. Meanwhile, Pakistan, South Africa, and Bangladesh also have green as their colour. As a result, they will have to look out for alternatives for a few games.

Australia, West Indies, and New Zealand will not have to sweat upon the need of an ‘away jersey’. With distinct jerseys, the three sides will have the luxury of wearing their traditional jerseys all throughout the course of the 12th edition of the World Cup.
