It is to be noted that the pump prices of fuel are dependent on the global crude oil prices and the rupee-US dollar exchange rate because of the country’s daily pricing mechanism. The rupee on Friday closed almost flat at 70.88 against the US dollar after the Reserve Bank of India in a widely expected move cut key interest rates by 0.25 percentage point.

In the international oil market, oil prices rose about 1 per cent on Friday as an increase in U.S. jobs eased some financial market concerns about slowing global economy potentially denting oil demand. However, crude fell more than 5% on the week, its second consecutive weekly decline.
