State Level Committee to Frame Guidelines for Recruitment of Home Guards

A state level committee headed by Home Minister will set the guidelines for recruitment of home guards.

During a review meeting of activities of home guard establishment and Sainik Kalyan Board, Home Minister Umashankar Gupta gave instructions to form a state level committee for setting guidelines for recruitment of home guards. The committee will be chaired by home minister.

The minister reviewed the process of recruitment of home guards against vacant posts and instructed to expedite it.

Gupta instructed Director General Home Guards HK Sarin to carry out a survey, with the help of district level officers, about the nature and places of deployment of home guards to check tendency of deploying home guards in a helter-skelter manner. At the same time, he instructed the District Sainanis to undertake inspection in the regard.

Reviewing the activities of Sainik Kalyan Board, the minister told board’s director Brigadier Pramod Kumar to prepare a proposal to raise a battalion comprising ex-servicemen below 45 years of age. The battalion will undertake policing.

Brig Kumar informed that there are about 40 thousand ex-servicemen in the state.

The meeting also discussed raising incentive money given to people whose children join the armed forces.

Minister of State for Home Narayan Singh Kushwah and Home Secretary Vishwa Mohan Upadhyaya were also present on the occasion.
