Umashankar Gupta’s Claim Far from Truth: Digvijay
Congress general secretary Digvijay Singh has said that the claim made by Home Minister Umashankar Gupta that the SIMI network flourished in the state during his rule is far from truth, said reports.
“If Gupta is saying that the SIMI network grew when I was the chief minister then obviously it means that he does not know what he is talking about,” Singh was quoted as saying by PTI.
Singh said that Gupta should be aware of the fact that he was the first chief minister in the country to demand a ban on both the SIMI and the Bajrang Dal, the report said.
“If I was asking for a ban on SIMI, how can I be held responsible for its growth in Madhya Pradesh,” Singh was quoted as saying.
Gupta had claimed on Sunday in Mandsaur that the SIMI network had flourished during Singh’s tenure as chief minister.
