Two major irrigation project sanctioned at Narmada control’s board meeting

Bhopal: Chief Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan chaired the 43rd meeting of Narmada Control Board here today. At the meeting, two major irrigation projects including Halon Project and Upper Narmada Irrigation Project were sanctioned.
These irrigation projects in tribal-dominant districts Mandla and Anuppur will irrigate about 31 thousand hectare area. Halon Irrigation Project’s cost is Rs. 278 crore 96 lakh and that of Upper Narmada Irrigation Project Rs. 636 crore 80 lakh. At the meeting, Chief Minister Shri Chouhan directed that work of these irrigation projects should be completed within the prescribed time-limit. Under Halon Irrigation Project, a 293 meter long and 21 meter high dam will be constructed over Halon River near village Karanjiya in Mandla district, which will irrigate 13 thousand 40 hectare area. Under Upper Narmada Irrigation Project, a 2 thousand 240 meter long and 33 meter high dam will be constructed near village Shobhapur in Dindori district, which will irrigate 18 thousand 616 hectare area in Dindori and Anuppur districts.
Finance Minister Shri Raghavji, Water Resources Minister Shri Jayant Malaiya, Forest Minister Shri Sartaj Singh, Public Works Minister Shri Nagendra Singh, Revenue Minister Shri Karan Singh Verma, Minister of State for Narmada Valley Development Shri Kanhaiyalal Agrawal, Chief Secretary Shri R. Parasuram, Principal Secretary Narmada Valley Development Shri Rajneesh Vaish, Principal Secretary Finance Shri Ajay Nath, Principal Secretary Water Resources Shri R.S. Julaniya and members of the board participated the meeting.
