Two ‘Booked’ for Operating IPL Satta Racket in MP

Bhopal: Madhya Pradesh police on Tuesday arrested Pikesh Jain and Mangal Somani and charged them under the Gambling Act for allegedly running a taking bets on the IPL T20 cricket tourney, currently underway in South Africa.

Amid indications of bookies raking in huge bets for the latest version of instant cricket, the duo was arrested from Mandsaur.

In what has become a trend now, the accused used several fixed line and mobile phones to take bets while financial transactions were taken care of afterward.

Acting on a tip off, Mandsaur police busted the racket operating out of a shop in the vicinity of the local bus station, the equipment used in the operation has been seized.

Investigations are on to ascertain if the racket was acting as the local arm for a larger betting ring.
