Trade fairs and exhibitions to be held to promote trade and export in Madhya Pradesh

Bhopal: For promoting trade and export in Madhya Pradesh, national and international level trade fairs will be held at Gwalior, Bhopal, Indore, Jabalpur and Khajuraho. For this, Commerce and Industries Minister Smt. Yashodhara Raje Scindia chaired a meeting of major stakeholders at Madhya Pradesh Bhavan in New Delhi yesterday.

Smt. Scindia invited all exhibition organisers to hold trade fairs, exhibitions, meetings and conventions at various places in Madhya Pradesh. Proposals for such events were sought for Gwalior Export Facilitation Centre and Gwalior Trade Fair. Besides, details of places at Bhopal, Indore and Jabalpur were also given where major national and international events can be held. Possibilities of holding events at hotels and premises of Madhya Pradesh Tourism Development Corporation’s hotels were also discussed and appeal was made to send proposals for them.

Apart from state’s archaeological, cultural heritage and tourism development, industrial development was also discussed. Additional Chief Secretary Commerce, Industries and Employment Shri P.K. Dash, Managing Director Madhya Pradesh Tourism Development Corporation Shri Raghavendra Singh and Managing Director MP Laghu Udyog Nigam Shri Anupam Rajan gave a detailed account of all possible event venues in the state.

Chairman of Apparel Export Promotion Council and Secretary General proposed to open a branch of Apparel Management Institute, Gurgaon in Madhya Pradesh. He also proposed to open Apparel Training and Design Centre. Smt. Scindia assured to extend every possible cooperation in this regard. In the same series, a proposal was offered to CII to organise auto expo and horticulture expo in Madhya Pradesh. On this, CII assured to act without delay.

Shri P.K. Dash urged all institutions to give their lists so that state government can ensure necessary action on their proposals. General Manager of India Trade Promotion Organisation informed that organisers have to move to other places also due to lack of space at Pragati Maidan. Therefore, ITPO will extend full cooperation in organizing large expos at suitable places in the state.

Representatives of Laghu Udyog Bharti appreciated works for industrialization in Madhya Pradesh. They assured maximum possible cooperation in establishment of small, micro and medium industries in the state. Chairman of Confederation of Small and Micro Industries appreciated works towards vender development in the state and stressed the need to generate maximum employment in rural areas.

Gupta, Executive Director of Carpet Export Promotion Council of India, Chairman of Apparel Promotion Council Shri Virendra Uppal, Joint Director of FICCI Shri Samrat Su, ASSOCHAM’s Director Shri Ravi Vig, JWT India’s Director Shri Amit Goswani, ITPO’s Senior General Manager Shri Dalel Singh, Export Promotion Council’s Executive Director Shri Rakesh Kumar, Camrock Design’s Director Shri Ashwin Kumar, UBM India’s Head Corporate Affairs Shri Sanjay Bose, CEO of Sicons Global Shri Roop Dayani and representatives of several other institutions participated in the meeting.

At the meeting all organizations appreciated excellent infrastructure in Madhya Pradesh and consent was given to chalk out proposals for large national and international events in the state.
