Top priority to PMGSY roads’ quality in Madhya Pradesh: CM

Bhopal: Panchayats & Rural Development Minister Shri Gopal Bhargava has said that all-weather roads are being constructed under Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana to ensure uninterrupted traffic in the rural areas throughout the year. Shri Bhargava was chairing 20thmeeting of MP Road Development Corporation’s executive committee here today. At the meeting, he reviewed works being carried out under the scheme in detail. Shri Bhargava directed to undertake process of filling up 626 posts of date entry operators under Mukhyamantri Grameen Aawas Mission through VYAPAM. Additional Chief Secretary Panchayats & Rural Development Smt. Aruna Sharma was also present on the occasion.

At the meeting, Authority’s CEO Smt. Alka Upadhyay informed that so far 52 thousand 199 km long roads have been constructed under Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana in the state. Their construction has provided all-weather connectivity to 5804 villages of above 1000 population and 4446 villages of above 500 population. She informed that the State Government is discharging its duties to maintain these roads.
It was informed at the meeting that there is a target to construct 3500 kilometer long new roads under Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana during financial year 2013-14. Besides, 3000 km long roads will also be renovated. Proposals will soon be sent to the Union Government to cover above BPL habitats having more than 500 population remaining habitats in tribal-dominant development blocks under Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana.
Mukhyamantri Grameen Aawas Mission: At the meeting, information was given about progress of Mukhyamantri Grameen Aawas Mission. Since launch of the mission till date, 3 lakh 33 thousand 161 applications have been sent to banks of which 1 lakh 90 thousand 42 cases have been sanctioned by banks. The banks have distributed loans in one lakh 33 thousand 507 cases. Deputy Secretary Public Works Shri Vijay Singh and senior officers of Panchayats & Rural Development Department and Authority were also present on the occasion.
