Three Suspended over Damoh Vaccination Deaths

Bhopal  —  Initiating strict action following the death of four children due to measles vaccination in Damoh, Public Health and Family Welfare Minister Anup Mishra ordered the suspension of the district vaccination officer and two help employees on Sunday.

Mishra rushed a team comprising Director Health and Family Welfare Dr. AN Mittal, Regional Joint Director Dr. KK Tamrakar, Sagar and two other doctors to Damoh for an enquiry into the incident.

Following a preliminary investigation, district vaccination officer Dr. Anupam Kulshreshta, LHV Vaccination Centre’s Saraswati Nayak and MPW Durga Tiwari were placed under suspension with immediate effect.

The Health Minister has also instructed the Health Commissioner to submit a detailed report into the incident and asked him to ensure that such incidents do not occur in future.

Meanwhile, Water Resources Minister Jayant Malaiya visited the bereaved families to offer his condolences.

Malaiya announced economic assistance to the tune of Rs 10 thousand to each of the affected families on behalf of the state government.

He also visited the district hospital and enquired about the health of five children undergoing treatment there. These children were also affected by faulty vaccination.

Malaiya instructed for emergency duty of doctors to take care of the ailing children and provide them all the necessary medication.
