Three Kids Die in Dewas Slum Fire
Bhopal — Three children of a family were killed and over 80 shanties were gutted as huge flames engulfed a slum in the vicinity of the posh Moti Bungalow area of Dewas late on Saturday, say reports citing official sources on Sunday.
The deceased have been identified as Payal (2), Neha (5) and Ajay (7).
District collector Sachin Sinha has confirmed the deaths.
“Three children of a family were killed in the fire which reduced to ashes 80 thatched houses in the shanty late last night,” he was quoted as saying.
He added that another child has been admitted to the district hospital with severe burns.
Sinha announced a Rs1 lakh financial assistance for the families of each of the deceased and a Rs20,000 aid to the 80 families whose dwellings were ravaged by the blaze.
The fire, which erupted between 11pm and midnight on Saturday, was only brought under control after a three hour battle.
Investigations are underway to ascertain the cause behind the fire.
