Three Assembly, Two RS Seats Up for By-polls in MP

Bhopal: After the general elections in which two MLAs got elected as MP from Madhya Pradesh, the stage is set for by-elections in three state assembly and two Rajya Sabha seats.

Besides the vacation of two assembly seats by these MLAs, third is lying vacant due to killing of an MLA during electioneering.

Congress MLAs Sajjan Singh Verma and Uday Pratap Singh got elected from the Dewas-Shajapur and Hoshangabad constituencies respectively.

Verma and Singh had defeated veteran BJP leader Thawardchand and sitting BJP MP Ram Pal Singh respectively.

The third Congress MLA, who represented the Gohad constituency in the Bhind district, was killed during campaigning.

In addition, by-polls will also be conducted for two seats to the Rajya Sabha from the state.

These vacancies, too, were created following two BJP members managed to get entry into the Lok Sabha. The two are senior BJP leader Sushma Swaraj and State BJP president Narendra Singh Tomar.
