BJP national secretary Prabhat Jha has said that there is no proposal before party’s central leadership for considering return of former state chief minster Uma Bharati to the party.
Jha, a Rajya Sabha member from Madhya Pradesh, said that this should put to rest all speculation about Bharti’s return to the BJP.
The speculation about Bharati’s return had received strength after party’s new President Nitin Gadkari was quoted by media as saying that there was need for leaders like Bharati to come back to the party.
Bharati, who became chief minister after December 2003 assembly elections, quit ten months later on her own to participate in an agitation on the national flag issue in Karnataka.
She quit the BJP and floated the Bharatiya Janashakti Party after Shivraj Singh Chouhan became chief minister.
