Teaching staff and non teaching staff of the universities has to reveal their assets

BHOPAL/INDORE: Madhya Pradesh is one of the few states in country which has directed the university authorities including all its employees also to declare their assets. Most of employees of the universities in Indore and Bhopal have not yet filed their assets with the department.

The vice chancellor of Devi Ahilya Vishwavidyalaya ( DAVV) Dr P K Mishra issued a fresh directive recently instructing all its teaching and non-teaching staff to disclose their assets. But he himself has to disclose his assets.

The story is no different in Bhopal’s Barkatullah University (BU). While the top brass at BU say they have disclosed their assets in an official form, it has yet to come in public domain. The websites of these universities bear no details as required about their assets.

In an order dated January 31 this year, the state government made it mandatory for teaching and non-teaching staff members to disclose property assets they owned from January 2010 to December 2010 and upload them on the university website.

Vijaya Srivastava, principal secretary, General Administration Department said the disclosure was mandatory, “The government has asked employees to declare their assets and publish them online. There is certain time limit within which employees have to furnish details.”

At BU, the registrar Sanjay Tiwari said that all employees had complied with the rules and filled up forms to declare their assets,. However, he did not reply as to why the details were not uploaded on the university website.

The BU website co-ordinator Amit Dutta said, “There is no link on the official website of the university which displays anything about the assets of the employees,” BU website coordinator, Amit Dutta, said.
