State’s power generation capacity to be 14,000 MW by next year

Bhopal: Chief Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan has said that power generation capacity in the state was just 2900 MW in year 2003, which has been increased to 10 thousand 400 MW now. It will further increase to 14 thousand MW by the next year. Shri Chouhan launched Atal Jyoti Abhiyan for 24X7 power supply in Harda district today. With this, Harda has become 21st district of the state having this facility.

Chief Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan said that Harda district became power-cut free from today. He said that continuous and adequate power supply will also give fillip to economic activities in Harda district. The Chief Minister said that so far, Rs. 25 thousand crore has been spent on the Abhiyan. He said that farmers have been relieved from depositing electricity bills by giving them facility of paying power charges at flat rate of Rs. 1200 per horsepower per annum. This amount will be payable twice a year.
Shri Chouhan said that by providing Rs. 1500 per quintal support price on wheat procurement, the State Government has created competition among traders. It is due to this policy of the government that farmers are now getting increased price for their produce. He said that unprecedented work of distribution of agriculture insurance worth Rs. 138 crore has been done in Harda district. Referring to efforts being made for increasing job opportunities in heath, education and employment sectors in detail, he said that Mukhyamantri Yuva Swarozgar Yojana has been launched to help youths establish their own industries and businesses. Food grains are being provided to senior citizens at concessional rate. Shri Chouhan said that now free medicines are being provided and free pathology tests conducted in government hospitals.
Energy Minister Shri Rajendra Shukla informed that now domestic consumers in the district will receive 24-hour power supply and farmers for 8 hours in three-phase for agriculture works. Rs. 83.03 crore has been spent on Atal Jyoti Abhiyan in Harda district. It will benefit 513 villages.
CM weighed against blood: At the programme, Chief Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan was weighed against blood. About 225 units of blood were donated on the occasion. MP Smt. Jyoti Dhurve, MLAs Shri Kamal Patel, Shri Sanjay Shah, Zila Panchayat Chairperson Dr. Yamini Mankar, Nagar Palika Chairperson Smt. Sangeeta Bansal and other public representatives were present on the occasion.
