Sowing completed in 114 lakh hectare during Kharif season

Bhopal: Sowing operations have been completed in about 114 lakh hectare during Kharif season in the state. Last year, sowing operations were accomplished in 104 lakh hectare. Director Farmers’ Welfare and Agriculture Development Dr. D. N. Sharma informed that a target has been set to complete sowing operations in 122 lakh hectare this year. Of the sowing operations completed so far, coarse cereals have been sown in 28 lakh 92 thousand hectare, pulses 11 lakh 56 thousand hectare, oilseeds 67 lakh 14 hectare and cotton has been sown in 6 lakh 21 thousand hectare.

Similarly, paddy has been sown in 13 lakh 16 thousand hectare, Jowar 2 lakh 57 thousand hectare, maize 9 lakh 98 thousand hectare, millet 1 lakh 68 thousand hectare and other crops have been sown in 1 lakh 52 thousand hectare. Tuar has been sown in 4 lakh 57 thousand hectare, Urad in 5 lakh 80 thousand hectare, Moong in 1 lakh 2 thousand hectare, Kulthi in 17 thousand hectare soyabean in 62 lakh 9 thousand hectare, groundnut in 2 lakh 21 thousand hectare, linseed in 2 lakh 39 thousand hectare and other oilseed crops have been sown in 44 thousand hectares. Besides, cotton has been sown in 6 lakh 21 thousand hectare.
