Shahi Sawari of Baba Vishwanath at Sironj

Bhopal : A grand Kanwar Yatra was organised at Sironj in Vidisha district on the occasion of last Monday of Hindi month Shravan. Culture and Public Relations Minister Shri Laxmikant Sharma also participated in the Yatra. During the Yatra taken out from Sironj town, Kanwariyas filled their vessels with holy water and performed Abhishek and worship of Bhagwan Vishwanath at Baba Vishwanath Dham at Devpur.

At the outset of the journey, Ganga Poojan was performed at local Kapithya Ganga Kaithan Dam where water collected from various places of pilgrimage as well as of Kapithya Ganga was filled in Kanwaras. Attractive tableaux of various incarnations of Lord Shiva were also decorated during the journey. Like Baba Mahakal’s Shahi Sawari at Ujjain, Shahi Sawari of Baba Vishwanath is also taken out on a wooden palanquin. The palanquin was being carried by devotees from Ujjain draped in saffron colour clothes. Ujjain’s royal cannon Rajwadi Kadaveen was giving salute to the Baba in front of the Yatra.

At the conclusion of the Yatra, Culture Minister Shri Laxmikant Sharma reached Vishwanath Dham, Devpur and performed rudrabhishek there.
