CM interacts with hailstorm-affected farmers in Shajapur and Dhar

Bhopal: Chief Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan is continuously touring hailstorm-affected areas in the state and consoling farmers. He says that farmers’ loss will be compensated even if expenditure on development and other works has to be curtailed. Shri Chouhan undertook intensive tour of hailstorm-affected areas in Dhar and Shajapur districts today.

At Dhar district headquarters, Shri Chouhan sought information from farmers, public representatives and district administration regarding damage caused by rains and hailstorm. From there, Shri Chouhan went to village Dharwara, Dedla, Ratwa and Padliya and inspected affected crops. Later, he also visited village Ranayal and Bhilkheri in Kalapipal development block in Shajapur district.

Shri Chouhan informed farmers that hailstorm has caused widespread damage throughout the state. Ripe crops of farmers have been damaged before harvesting. Informing about decisions taken by state government, he said that he will help farmers overcome this extraordinary crisis. They need not worry. Every village and field will be surveyed with total transparency.

Shri Chouhan said that district’s officers will be held responsible if any irregularity is found in survey work. He said that efforts will be made to provide benefit of crop insurances scheme also apart from relief amounts.

Shri Chouhan informed that Rs. 15 thousand per hectare relief will be given by considering over 50 percent loss as 100 percent loss. Rs. 25 thousand assistance each will be given for marriage or Nikah of daughters of such farmers under Mukhyamantri Kanyadan Yojana. They will also be provided wheat and rice at the rate of Re. 1 per kg. Relief will also be given on crop loss from 25 percent to 50 percent. Loss to fruit, flower and vegetable crops will also be assessed and compensation given. Arrangements will be made for seeds and fertilisers for next crops. Compensation against loss of cattle and damage to houses will also be given.

The Chief Minister said that state government has decided to suspend loan recovery from farmers during current fiscal and interest on loan for this period will also be given by it. Shri Chouhan directed district administration to provide relief to farmers at the earliest.
