Sanchi Comes Alive with Boddh Mahotsava on November 29

Bhopal  —  Come November 29 and the timeless Stupas, Sangaghars and pillars of Sanchi will come alive with a three-day Boddh Mahotsava, a festival of demonstrative arts focusing on the life of Buddha.

Exponents of Buddhist demonstrative arts from foreign shores as well as northeastern states of India and Boddh Vihars of Chhattisgarh and Himachal Pradesh are being invited for the festival, informed Culture and Public Relations Minister Laxmikant Sharma.

Sanchi attracts a large number of Buddhist pilgrims from Tibet, China, Japan, Korea, Taiwan and Sri Lanka.

An exhibition featuring various Buddhist masks and their replicas will also be held as part of the Mahotsava.

The festival is being organised under the joint auspices of Scheduled Castes Welfare and Culture departments.
