Sabharwal Murder: CPI(M) Seeks CBI Probe
Bhopal: A day after a Nagpur Court acquitted all six accused in Prof HS Sabharwal murder case, due to lack of evidence, the Communist Party of India (Marxist) on Tuesday demanded a CBI probe into the matter.
“The CBI should also inquire into the policemen’s role who turned hostile and the political interference in the case,” said PTI citing a statement issued by CPI (M) state unit secretary Badal Saroj.
Saroj alleged that the acquittal came about due to improper investigation, he claimed that the prosecutor in the case had earlier said that the police and investigators did not cooperate.
Sabharwal, head of the Political Science Department of Madhav College, Ujjain, was allegedly beaten to death by a group of ABVP activists in 2006.
