Rameshwar Thakur was sworn in as Governor of Madhya Pradesh on Tuesday by Chief Justice of the High Court AK Patnaik in a function held at Raj Bhawan.
The swearing in took place at 11.50 pm in the ceremony conducted by Chief Secretary Rakesh Sahani.
Prominent of those present at the occasion include newly appointed governor’s wife Narmada Thakur and other family members, Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan along with his wife, Leader of Opposition Jamuna Devi,.
Besides, members of state Cabinet, MPs, MLAs, State Congress president Suresh Pachouri, judges of MP High Court, vice-chancellors of universities, Bhopal Mayor Sunil Sood, representative of various religious and social organizations, senior administrative and police officials, and journalists were also present.
A Guard of Honour was presented to the Governor Thakur after oath-taking. Thakur also inspected the contingent of guards.
